FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Different boat models have different radio and VHF units on board. Sometimes even a same boat model comes with a different unit installed, so we decided to make it easier for our guests and separate this section completely so you can see the short usage manuals based on what you have on board:
  • Fusion radio
  • B&G VHF
  • Raymarine VHF

 FUSION RADIO

Make sure your electronics / radio / navigation switch is on before using the radio. Switch between radio and bluetooth sources by clicking the SOURCE button. Choose what area of the boat you'd like to turn up or down the volume by pushing the volume button, and scrolling between the options. To connect to bluetooth, click the SOURCE button, and choose bluetooth. Click the MORE OPTIONS button and scroll down to set the radio as DISCOVERABLE. You should be able to find your device now.

VHF GENERAL USAGE AND CHANNELS IN CROATIA

Make sure all your crew members know how to use the VHF in emergency situations. To use the VHF, make sure the switch on the main panel is on, and keep it turned on on VHF channel 16 during navigation. To switch between channels, turn the button, and to get to squelch, just press the same button.  On catamarans, the VHF extension at the helm can only be used if the unit below is on, and the handheld is also turned on at the top.

Channels to use in Croatia:
Agana Base- VHF ch 77 (this is a short range signal, we can hear you up to the red lateral marker when leaving the base)
Distress- VHF ch 16
Marinas- VHF ch 17 (short range signal, used by most marinas in Croatia)
Town Quays- VHF ch 09 or 15 (no town quay is obliged to use the VHF radio for communication so don't be surprised if they do not answer)
MSI (Marine Safety Information) is broadcast regularily in English and Croatian on ch 16 with instructions which channel can be used to listen to the full report. It includes navigational warnings, weather reports, search and rescue reports, and other urgent information about safety of navigation. Schedule is:

B&G VHF

Usually found on the right side of the skippers table (not on the main panel). The ON / OFF button is immediately under the screen, and channels can be changed with the arrow UP / DOWN. The button 16/9 will immediately put the channel to 16. On the top side, a DSC Distress button can be used to transmit a digital distress signal (along with your GPS coordinate position) to the coastguard. This is for emergency use only, if it is activated accidentally contact the coastguard on VHF 16 to notify them of the false alarm.
On the right side of the device is also the button to toggle between volume and squelch, as well as the UP / DOWN button to adjust the volume / squelch.
